I read an article the other day about 5 Weirdly Amazing
Food Combinations You Must Try. When it comes to diabetes, what you
eat is very important in managing diabetes. But, it isn’t always easy to come up with inventive and
tasty snack and meal options that are actually filling and nutritious.
Sometimes you need to get creative. Here are some ideas that were suggested.
Hummus, which is a dip made from chickpeas and
sesame seed paste, is being used in combination with apples. This combination
is rich in nutrients and fiber.
Another good combination that was suggested was combining carrots and peanut butter. This will slow down your digestion process so your blood sugars won’t rise as quickly. For an even healthier option you can drizzle some organic peanut, almond, or other nut butter alternative for a savory, sweet treat.
Sardines with tomatoes and capers are another healthy treat that was mentioned. Personally, I don’t know if I can try this. Sounds awful to me because I can’t get past the smell, but they say mixed between two slices of whole grain bread it gives you carbohydrate controlled lunch or dinner.
A pear and Low-fat Greek yogurt make for a tasty
treat. This combination is packed with vitamin C, calcium and protein. Last but not least
grapefruit and lettuce wraps. This creates a tart, salty combination rich
in protein and low in saturated fat.
I have to say, the only combination I’ve heard of
and tried is carrots and peanut butter. Has anyone else tried these
combinations? I would love to hear how they taste. Or, maybe you have your own “
weird”
combination snack you would like to share.
