Lemons for Diabetes

Lemons are included in the family of citrus fruit. The American Diabetes Association extremely recommends that diabetics should include lemons on their diet. ADA also categorizes citrus fruits as superfoods for diabetics. Lemons have a little glycemic index which means they are improbable to cause your blood glucose to spike. They provide tastes without added sugar like what is found in many juices and sodas. Lemons are rich in nutrients that have levels of thiamine, phosphorus, calcium and vitamin C. This fruit has many health benefits especially to people with diabetes.  Diabetes is said to be an increasing disease worldwide. This is the result if the body can’t produce insulin or when it’s not able to utilize insulin efficiently.
Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas needed in converting sugar into energy. Type 1 Diabetes takes place when the pancreas is broken and unable to manufacture insulin. Diabetic persons are dependent on insulin injection to change glucose into energy. Type 2 diabetes happens when pancreas manufactured insufficient insulin and the body does not react to its action in the proper way. When the body can’t convert sugar to energy, the level of blood sugar increases and this may lead to lots of damages. For diabetics, monitoring blood glucose level is seriously important. Exercise and diet plays a big role in regulating the glucose level. People with diabetes tends to be heavy, losing weight and keeping off an extra pounds are among the most important aspects in managing diabetes. Water from the lemon is good for diabetics because it helps in controlling the blood sugar. Lemon juice is best for diabetics since it has a high vitamin C level, which is a powerful antioxidant that improves the immune system and is very beneficial to the heart.  It also assists to control the levels of cholesterol by this means it can protect the arteries from the plaque deposits. 

 Lemon to Type 1 Diabetes
Ø  Type 1 diabetics with high insulin doses could have an advantage from lemon juice by using it as lemon juice detox or cleanser. For cleansing, measure the rising of your blood sugar.
 
Lemon to Type 2 Diabetes
Ø  People with type 2 diabetes can use the lemon juice detox as a way to lose an excessive weight.

Lemon diet for diabetics is good because it provides the body with all the nutritious benefit and it helps to lose weight while still keeping the normal level of blood sugar.
