Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is a high cost disease that puts the patient on the financial burden. If not managed or treated this can cause kidney failure, blindness and situations that require the amputation of the limbs or digits. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that this is one of main cause of heart ailments and stroke and the seventh cause of death.
The bottom line is diabetes can be sad news but it does not have to be that way.  Intervention can delay or prevent the disease to people diagnosed with pre-diabetes. The Diabetes Prevention Program, an organization that studies the condition of people with high risk of diabetes has developed a plan that is both cost effective and feasible. DPP showed that increased in physical activity and weight loss reduces the development of type 2 diabetes.

What is Type 2 Diabetes?
Diabetes is characterized by raised of levels of blood glucose because of deficiencies in secretion of insulin, insulin action or it can be both. Type 2 diabetes normally begins with the resistance of insulin. For people whose body resists to insulin, their pancreas secretes additional insulin to maintain the normal level of glucose. As the condition develops, the insulin production decreases gradually and will eventually reaches a level of insufficiency that cannot maintain the normal range of glucose. But how this type 2 diabetes progresses can differ considerably as noted by the Diabetes Association.

Conventional or Alternative Medicine
One way in approaching diabetes is the use of integrative holistic medicine or the alternative medicine. This is a medical field that concentrates on caring for the person, preventing and treating disease and empowers the patient to make conditions to optimal health.
This modality can be compared with the importance of conventional medicine which is to mitigate or cure disease. For example, a conventional physician will follow a traditional procedure for diabetes management which includes a medically established practice focused on monitoring blood glucose and recommending prescriptions to balance it. A provider of alternative medicine takes a whole person and personalized approach that can include an instruction for changes in exercise habits, diet, stress reduction and other daily life considerations.

Managing Diabetes
Specialists agree that nutrition is the foundation of diabetes management and that variety of intervention strategies to can be an aid to meet the metabolic objectives and individual preferences of a diabetic person. Though, there are substantial differences in the methodologies and approach used by the conventional and alternative practitioners to manage the illness.

Is there a cure for Diabetes?

There is much media propaganda about reversing the type 2 Diabetes that makes the patients confused with terms. But many physicians approve that bringing an A1C to the down level is certainly reversing the disease development. In medical term “cure” is linked with severe disease. For diabetes, which is a lifelong disease, is more accurate to use the word remission. Mostly when you are considering the pathology connected with diabetes and the person’s genetic tendency to relapse is always possible.

Can Milk Thistle be an Aid in Managing Diabetes?

Milk thistle shows as a defense against diabetes and other complications related to diabetes which includes damages to blood vessels and kidneys.  It is commonly used to maintain detox efforts and enhance liver health. Milk thistle is very rich in antioxidants or the natural elements identified to knock out the free radicals. In turn, most of the complication linked to diabetes are connected to oxidative anxiety, the procedure that which results to too much productions of free radicals. By keeping aside oxidative stress, research propose that milk thistle may help in the cure of diabetes .

Milk Thistle for Diabetes

As today, only limited studies have tried the effects of milk thistle to diabetic people. The existing study contains a 2006 research comprises of 51 people with a type 2 diabetes. The participants combined their conventional treatment with either a supplement that contains silymarin or placebo. By the end of the study, the members of silymarin team presented a substantial decrease cholesterol and total cholesterol. Also, silymarin appeared to be an aid to control the level of blood sugar.
Milk thistle may not be a cure for diabetes but it can regulate and keep the level of blood glucose to normal. Most of the herbal supplements haven’t verified enough to distinguish if they are really effective. Some of them work and some don’t.  There is a lack of good evidence that can prove that they work. Sometimes natural substances doesn’t mean that it’s always safe.  Many people got this as a great mistake.  Herbs can be very perilous particularly when it is already combined with any pharmaceutical medicines by someone who doesn’t have any knowledge and understanding to the properties of medication and herbs.  Some herbs can be poisonous in certain situations. It is best to use herbs when it is recommended by a specialist familiar with the use and effects of it.  Milk thistle is safe for adults.
At times, milk thistle caused a laxative effect. There are common side effects which includes indigestion, nausea, intestinal gas, and diarrhea, loss of appetite, pain and bloating. Milk this can also cause allergic reaction to people delicate to plants in the family of Asteraceae including marigolds, ragweed, and daisies.
Milk thistle may help but there are still conditions that can inhibit you from taking it. The following could be the reason:
  •          You are breast feeding or pregnant.
  •          You are allergic or sensitive to the Compositae family.
  •       You have a sensitive hormone condition. Some of this includes uterine fibroids, endometriosis and cancers of the ovaries, breast and uterus.

Interactions during Medications

Certain medications are broken down and changed by the liver. Milk thistle might reduce how the liver quickly breaks down with some medications. The taking of milk thistle along with other medications that the liver broke down can increase the side effects and effects of some medicines.

Milk thistle improves the insulin resistance, the main characteristic to type 2 diabetes but still diabetes is still a serious condition so before you take any supplements consult to your health provider as this might interfere your medication.

Healthy Diet

Healthy eating is a foundation of healthy living with or even without diabetes. But if you are diabetic, you should know how foods can affect your blood glucose level. It is not about the kind of food but how much and what are the combinations of food you eat. Everybody should be acquainted how it is to be living with diabetes.
Here are some tips on how to maintain the proper level of blood sugar by the food we eat:

  •  Learn the carbohydrate counts and portion sizes. A basic one in terms of many diabetes management plans is to learn how to calculate the amount of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates usually are the foods that have the biggest effect on the level of blood sugar. For people who are having insulin during mealtime, it is important that you know how much carbohydrates are in your food, so you get the proper dose of insulin. Learn what the appropriate portion size for each food type. Make your meal plan simpler by writing the portions of food you usually eat.  Use a scale or measuring cups to make sure that you get the proper portion size and exact carbohydrate count.
  •   Make a well-balanced meal. Plan each meal to have a good combination of fruits, vegetables, fats, starches and protein. It is necessary that you give attention to the kinds of carbohydrates you take.  Some of the carbohydrates like vegetables, whole grains and fruits are better than the others. These foods have a little amount of carbohydrates and contain fiber that can help blood sugar to be more stable. Talk to a dietitian, doctor or nurse about the best selection of food and the proper balanced for all types.
  •   Organize meals and medications. Too little food proportioned to your medication particularly the insulin may lead to hypoglycemia. Too much food can result you to hyperglycemia. Consult your health care group how to make the best schedule of coordinate meals and medications.
  •  Avoid beverages with sweetened sugar. This includes those with high fructose or sucrose this tends to be with high calories and offers a little of nutrition. And because they can cause quick rise to blood sugar it would be great if you avoid these kinds of drinks.  The exclusion is if you’re experiencing a low level of blood sugar. These sugar sweetened drinks such as sports drinks, juice and soda can be an effective treatment for raising the low blood sugar quickly.

With diabetes, the pancreas does not produce sufficient insulin to maintain the normal level of blood sugar. People who have Type 1 diabetes produce little insulin or none at all. Those with Type 2 continues to produce adequate or too much but the receptors of insulin on cells improve resistance, a condition that inhibits the body from using the glucose efficiently. Sugar remains to flow in the blood and build up. A diet with more vegetables and fruits and a little of food processed can fights the diabetes.
With all the facts about diabetes, we can be aware what can be the causes of it. People can also have and make the natural cure of diabetes by having the right food and proper diet and exercise.

800-Calorie-Day Diet to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

Scientists are discovering a short period of crash diet which can reverse type 2 diabetes and restore the natural levels of insulin, offering a new hope to millions of people in the world who are suffering from diabetes. The scientists found out that putting overweight diabetics on 800 calories of diet everyday can clear the disease and get them back to health in just a few weeks.
According to reports, the procedures have been successfully tested to 11 patients but now it will be the focus of 2.4 million pound medical experiments by Diabetes UK which will involve 280 people with induced-obesity diabetes.  Researchers validated that by changing the intakes of calorie the fat levels in the pancreas and liver could also change and return the production of insulin to normal. The study is conducted to see whether the method can be used to reverse diabetes in the patients and whether if the reverse will stay. The evidence shows that it will but large scale experiments are still needed to prove that it really works.
Type 2 diabetes, not like type 1, is closely connected to obesity. It usually occurs when the body can not produce an adequate amount of insulin or the cells in the body do not respond to insulin, a hormone which is secreted by the pancreas that moves sugar from the blood to the cells where it will be used as energy.
With inadequate insulin, the blood glucose increases with a raft of hazardous side effects. These may include an abrupt increase in the risk of stroke and foot amputation, heart attack, blindness and dementia. Researchers already identify that people who experience a weight loss operation like gastric bypasses usually see their type 2 diabetes decrease but such cures are risky and seen considered to be the last option.
Scientist are careful and the study is still continuous but the evidence is increasing that diet can certainly take away the indications of type 2 diabetes. The problems for researchers who are working on finding what type of diet that can keep the reverse of diabetes. It is when people have already beaten the situation and improve their lifestyle.

Home Remedies for Diabetes

I came across this video that discusses 5 unique remedies to help control blood sugar levels naturally. Living with diabetes is an everyday struggle and I prefer natural cures for diabetes as apposed to medicine that most often makes me sick to my stomach.

The first remedy to lower blood sugar levels mentioned was bitter melon juice. She suggested to drink a glass every morning on an empty stomach and that you can add carrots for flavor. Sounds like it may taste awful.

The second remedy is Fenugreek seeds. It was suggested to soak the seeds in water and drink the mixer in the morning after brushing your teeth. It will be chewy.

The third remedy to try and lower blood sugar levels is Turmeric mixed in with milk. It was suggested to start off with 1 tsp and then work your way up to 1 tbs.

Last but not least, the forth remedy is cinnamon with Guava leaf powder. Mix the two in lukewarm water and drink in the morning on an empty stomach. These remedies to help reverse type 2 diabetes sound interesting enough to try. It was suggested that you could see results in as little as 15 days. Check out your local herbal shop if you have one or you can check out www.thediabetesdilemma. com to find very affordable natural herbs and supplement shops. Has anyone tried any of these remedies and if so what where your results? I would be very interested to hear your thoughts or opinions.
